Caring for our Country Open Grants funding will provide up to $25 million in 2008-2009. This funding is targeted to the following Caring for our Country priority areas:

* biodiversity and natural icons
* coastal environments and critical aquatic habitats
* sustainable farm practices

Over the past five years there have been a number of finance sector initiatives integrating social and environmental risks and opportunities into lending and investment decision-making processes. These include the establishment of the Equator Principles by banking institutions and the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment established by institutional investors.

This program provides grants to schools to give them the opportunity to involve their students and community in developing and implementing environmental management projects.
