PROJECTS
Title: Mulloon Creek Riparian Management
Program: NRM
Description: The project will address the issue of stream bank and bed erosion along a 1.5 km section of Mulloon Creek east of Bungendore. 3.5 kilometres of new fencing will exclude stock from both sides of the Mulloon Creek Revegetation. 2000 native tubestock seedlings with guards will be planted to substantially improve the stability of these banks. The project will install a streambed erosion control structure (rock ramp) downstream from a significant pool thus protecting this pool an important water source for the property during the drought. Productivity of the property will be retained as the landholders have installed a reticulated watering system that will provide water to all paddocks that currently access the creek.
Funding: (2002/2003) $12,273
Title: Integrated Rehabilitation of Reedy Creek
Program: National Rivercare Program
Description: Stabilise Reedy Creek to minimise erosion; reduce silting and nutrient flowing into the Molonglo/Upper Murrumbidgee Catchment; conserve and restore vegetation along the riparian zone and adjacent land; improve habitat to encourage biodiversity and restore wildlife corridor along creek; create wildlife links with Kowen Escarpment bushland and with roadside conservation zones; improve the water quality along the creek and flowing into the Upper Murrumbidgee Catchment; improve the productivity of adjacent farming, grazing and forestry activities; provide visible high impact outcomes to encourage further community interest and support.
